McMahons Point is located just 3km north of the Sydney CBD and sits on the peninsula flanked by Berrys Bay to the west and Lavender Bay to the east. The lower tip of the peninsula is known as Blues Point and offers expansive views of Sydney Harbour, City CBD, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Once predominantly working-class, McMahons Point is now among Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs. It is desirable not only for its natural beauty and terrific views but also for its tranquillity and accessibility to local parks, cafes, restaurants and the bus, train and ferry network.
McMahons Point was once the focus of a residential vision by famed architect Harry Seidler, but only two of the originally-proposed 29 apartment towers were built – Blues Point Tower and Harbour Master. The suburb is primarily a medium to high density residential area interspersed with some lovely grand homes.
There are plenty of options for eating and drinking here and the cafes and restaurants of Kirribilli, Milsons Point and North Sydney are just minutes away.
All in all, McMahons Point is simply a lovely place to live.
